Getting started

Install the extension, save your first page, and find it in Permanent Record.

Create your account

Sign up at app.permanentrecord.ai. Every new account starts a 14-day free trial — no credit card required. After signup you land on a short welcome page with two suggestions: save your first document, and set up the browser extension.

Install the extension

The Permanent Record Web Clipper runs in Chrome.

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click the Permanent Record icon in your toolbar.
  3. If you’re not signed in yet, the popup shows a Log In button — use it to connect the extension to your account.

Save your first page

  1. Open any article or page worth keeping.
  2. Click the Permanent Record icon.
  3. Optionally pick a collection, add tags, or write a note.
  4. Click Save Page.

The popup walks through three steps — capturing the page, building the archive, and saving it to Permanent Record. When it finishes, View in Permanent Record opens the saved copy.

The clipper saves the full page, not a bookmark: the text and layout are archived as they appeared when you saved. See the web clipper for details and limits.

Find it in your library

Your saved pages live in Documents in the app. Each document gets processed after saving — that’s what powers search and Ask AI. Processing one web page uses one credit from your monthly allowance; see credits.

Next steps

  • Ask questions about a saved document with Ask AI.
  • Some pages — sign-in screens, checkout flows, banking portals — are never captured. The capture policy explains what’s protected.
